To enable Half-Life 2 cheat codes, first add “-console” to the command line parameter of the Half-Life 2 start menu icon. To do so, left click start menu then navigate to the Half-Life 2 shortcut icon, right click and select “properties”. In the Target field add “-console” (w/o quotes). Then start the game normally. While playing the game press tilde (~) to bring up the console. Enter the follow cheat codes for the desired effect.

All weapons and items must be entered in the form of weapon_ or item_
i.e. give weapon_crowbar
